Sat. Nov 29th 2008

On November 28, 2008 at 1810 Hours East Chilton was dispatched to the 800 blk of County Road 265 for the reported mobile home fire. East Chilton responded with Engine 91, Tanker 91 and Rescue 99. Gap of the Mountain responded as our Automatic Aid with Engine 171. During our response dispatch updated us with reports of a civilian entering the burning structure and not exiting. Based on this information Deputy Chief Wright requested an Engine from Clanton, Clanton responded Engine 3. Engine 91 arrived to find a single wide mobile home well involved. The fire was in the middle of the building and extending to the "D" side of the building. Crews pulled 2 1 3/4" handlines and began attacking the fire. Deputy Chief Wright arrived at the scene and assumed "County Rd 265" Command. At this point bystanders were still reporting that the owner of the building was witnessed entering the building and had not exited. Based upon this informaiton Command assigned a crew to perform a primary search once the bulk of the fire was knocked down. The primary search proved negative. Crews then began performing secondary searches of the building. During the secondary search the victim was located. Crews continued the search for another possible victim who was reported to possibly have been in the building at the time of the fire. The search for a second victim was negative. Officials from the Chilton County Sheriff's Office along with officials from the Alabama Fire Marshall's office arrived at the scene and began their investigation.
