On Wednesday 06/03/2009 at 1042 HRS East Chilton and Gap of the Mountain was dispatched to the 5000 Block of County Road 85 on a reported house fire. East Chilton responded with Engine 91, Tanker 91, and Rescue 99; Gap of the Mountain responed Engine 17 and Clanton was requested and responded Engine 3. Chief Griffin arrived to find a one story house with smoke showing. Engine 91 arrived and stretched a 1 3/4" attack line. The attack crew made entry into the house and quickly extinguished the fire. Command placed the fire under control within 7 minutes of arrival. Crews worked to check for extension and perform overhaul. The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended candle left burning. Automatic Aid crews were released by 1200 HRS and East Chilton units returned to service at 1335 HRS.
