Message from Chief Matt Griffin...

To the East Chilton Community, fellow Members & Website viewers:

First and foremost, thank you for visiting our website! My intention is to keep you, the residents of the East Chilton Community, updated and informed on your fire department’s progression. The members of this department are dedicated men and women that give so much to the community and department by their untiring efforts and long hours of labor to ensure the safety of our community. It is my intention, as you’re Chief, to continue taking this department forward in a positive manner, ensuring that the residents of East Chilton and surrounding areas are provided with highest quality of emergency services.

I want to personally thank the members for your dedication to this department and the citizens we serve. Equally, I thank you for your assurance in me to lead this department forward into the bright future. With 2009 in the record book, we look forward to several new and exiting projects to increase our capabilities to increase our level of service to the community:

(1)     As the trend continues, our emergency call volume continues to increase each year. Your fire department responded to over 230 calls for service in 2009. We have seen a steady increase in calls for service over the past several years.

(2)     As I write this members are currently putting together the final touches on a plan to build a training facility located behind fire station one.

(3)     Myself, along with the Board of Directors, are currently working to put together a proposal to construct a new fire station at the current location of station one, which was built in 1977 and was never intended to be used as much or hold the type and amount of equipment it is now doing.

(4)    At station 2 we are working to upgrade the grounds around the station to provide a cleaner, neater environment. Also at station 2 we are looking to upgrade the exisitng apparatus to help provide better protection to the many residents along Lake Mitchell.

I would like to again recognize the 25 individuals that I am proud to call fellow members as well as friends and family. These men and women are the heart and character of this department and as the result of their time and energy; we are able to provide the utmost quality emergency services to our community. I would also like to say a special thank you to the men and women who came before us and help to get us where we are today.

As I close, I would again like to say a very special “Thank you” to both the residents of the community and the members of the department. With the rock-solid commitment of these groups, this department has wonderful things to look forward to in the near future. The community fortitude and love for its welfare is what makes East Chilton an exceptional place to live and raise children. Thank you for your continued support to this department and I’m looking forward to the bright future. The best is yet to come!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns. Again, thank you, stay safe and God bless!

Best regards,

Matt Griffin,Chief/EMT-P
